Phytoestrogen

Soybeans contain isoflavones called genistein and daidzein. Isoflavones (isoflavonoids) are one of two primary groups of phytoestrogens, plant-based estrogen mimicking organic chemicals with antioxidant--free radical scavengers--properties.

The other group is lignan. Plant lignans associated with high fiber foods such as cereal brans and beans are the principal precursor to mammalian lignans which have an ability to bind to human estrogen sites.

 The best source of lignans is flax seed. Without side effects as does soy.

  Phytoestrogen in men

Because of the phytoestrogen content, some studies indicate that there is a correlation between a soybean-rich diet and a decrease in the level of testosterone in men.

Testosterone is a steroid hormone from the androgen group. Testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females although small amounts are secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid. In both males and females, it plays key roles in health and well-being. Examples include enhanced libido, energy, immune function, and protection against osteoporosis.

A study carried out at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast linked soy to male infertility, including damage of reproductive capability already caused during childhood.

The study also points out that "soy is not just consumed by vegetarians, it is contained in a lot of everyday processed foods."

The grapefruit flavonoid naringenin inhibits the secretion of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in infected cells and could offer a new approach for treating the disease, according to a Harvard Medical School study.

The C connection: New research with mice suggests that intravenous doses of vitamin C could one day reduce the size of cancerous tumors in people. The findings are preliminary and still must be confirmed in humans. And even if the treatment works, it's not a cure but would likely be used in combination with other drugs, the researchers said. The grocery store and drug store vitamin C is made with rock or clay and injected with a synthetic chemical which is like ascorbic acid. Real Vitamin C comes from fruit such as oranges. The orange does not aquire any "C" untill the last three days it is on the tree. GNLD contracted large orange grooves in California to let the orange ripen on the tree and fall into net before harvest, of which they are paid a premium price. The E connection: Your body is made up of electrical charges. When a "spark" called a free radical skips across cells, it kills that cell. If there is sufficient oxygen, the cell dissolves and goes away. If the oxygen content is low, the cell lies there until joined by anther. This is the first form of a tumor. Growth develops when more dead cells collect. In the process of time without oxygen, the tumor becomes cancerous. This is why it so important to have sufficient vitamin E. Something in vitamin E from wheat causes the cells to utilize the oxygen available more effectively, decreasing the chance of getting cancer. Most all vitamin companies make vitamin E sustitute that is worthless and even dangerous if you take too much. The GNLD is made from wheat germ oil and by far superior.
